Despite its progressive image, the tech startup world is by no means immune to the problem of systemic racism. We must call on both public and private sectors to support underrepresented entrepreneurs as an explicit part of our action plan for economic recovery.

Canadian innovation leaders launch coalition against racism
A group of 25 leaders from the Canadian tech and innovation sectors have launched the Coalition of Innovation Leaders Against Racism (CILAR), which plans to create more opportunities for BIPOC people within the innovation economy.

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council has awarded $76 million for 128 new applied research projects at colleges, cégeps and polytechnics.
